GEO-HAZ Consulting Inc.

Landslides occur in most regions containing slopes, and create LANDSLIDE HAZARDS to roads, utility lines, and buildings. Most landslides move slowly enough that people are not directly threatened, but some are so rapid people are trapped in their houses. GEO-HAZ performs the complete spectrum of landslide hazard assessments, including:

- Landslide Inventory Mapping (preferably based on LiDAR DEMs)

- Identifying Individual Landslide Lobes as to Age and Type

- On-Site Landslide Characterization

- Drilling and sampling

Analyzing landslide hazards ultimately requires knowing these parameters:
WHERE IS THE LANDSLIDE?
HOW STABLE IS THE LANDSLIDE? (Factor of Safety for static and dynamic triggers)
WHAT TYPE OF LANDSLIDE IS IT, AND HOW FAST WILL IT MOVE?
WHERE WILL IT GO?
CAN IT BE STABILIZED, AND IF SO, HOW?

For an example of an integrated geological-geophysical-geotechnical study of multiple landslides for a residential development, you can download the PDF file "2012 Utah slides".

Since 1991 GEO-HAZ has specialized in mapping and analyzing LANDSLIDE HAZARDS, and recommending mitigation plans against their effects. In the past few years the demand for such hazard analyses has increased, due to new energy infrastructure projects such as conventional power plants, nuclear power plants, nuclear waste repositories, renewable power plants, dams, pipelines, and transmission lines.
