BUS INFORMATION
1)Greyhound Bus Lines provides bus service from Denver to Alamosa. Buses depart Denver from the Denver Bus Center at 19th Street and Arapaho Street, in downtown Denver. There is only one bus per day from Denver to Alamosa, and it departs Denver at 11:00 am (see graphical bus schedule below).
This bus route travels south on Interstate Highway 25 from Denver to Walsenburg, Colorado, paralleling the range front of the Colorado Front Range, which lies about 10-20 miles west of the Interstate. If you wish to watch the mountains, try to get a window seat on the right side of the bus (right side, as you face toward the front of the bus).
At Walsenburg, the bus turns west onto US Highway 160 and travels across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, The high point of this leg is reached at La Veta Pass, elevation 9413 feet, or 2870 m, which is about halfway between Walsenburg and Fort Garland. Fort Garland lies on the eastern margin of the San Luis Valley, which is the topographic expression of the Rio Grande rift in Colorado. The towns of Fort Garland, Blanca, and Alamosa are all in the rift basin, the floor of which has an elevation of about 7600 feet (2317 m) above sea level. The mountains flanking the rift (Sangre de Cristo Mountains on the east, San Juan Mountains on the west) rise to over 14,000 feet (4270 m) above seal level.
The round-trip fare for the Denver-Alamosa-Denver bus ride is US$98.00

2) If you are arriving at the Denver International Airport (DEN), you must take a Denver RTD SkyRide bus from the airport to the Denver Bus Center. SkyRide buses leave DIA from level 5 -the same level where you pick up your bags, so there are no long walks with luggage. You can board skyRide at one of two convenient locations: lane 3 outside door 506 at the West Terminal or lane 3 outside door 511 at the East Terminal. Just look for the skyRide sign and RTD shelter. The 1-way fare is US$6.00, exact fare payment is required.
Take the skyRide bus marked route AF, which has a stop at the Denver Bus Center (19th & Arapaho Streets). These buses leave at 45 minutes after every hour, beginning at 6:45 am and lasting until 1:15 am the next morning (see schedule below). Travel time from the airport to 19th & Arapaho is approximately 45 minutes. For example, if you departed from the airport on the 9:45 am skyRide bus, you would arrive at 19th and Arapaho at 10:31 am. This time is about 30 minutes before the departure of the sole Denver-to-Alamosa bus each day. NOTE THAT THE DENVER TO ALAMOSA BUS ONLY RUNS ONCE A DAY, DEPARTING AT 11:00 AM, SO IF YOU ARRIVE AT THE DENVER BUS CENTER AFTER 11:00 AM YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY TO CATCH A BUS.
Times in red below, arrive at the Denver Bus Center (19th & Arapaho) in time for the 11:00 am departure of the Greyhound Bus to Alamosa.
